Installing Language Packs on Windows 7 for SharePoint Server 2010 RC

A quick note on language packs for SharePoint Server 2010 RC.

Language Packs for SharePoint Server 2010 RC are installed the same way you would install SharePoint 2010 on Windows 7. See “Setting Up the Development Environment for SharePoint Server” article on MSDN.

Step 1- Extract the language pack using the *.exe /extract: switch

Step 2 – Add the <Setting Id=”AllowWindowsClientInstall” Value=”True”/>

Step 3 – Run the Setup application

Step 4 – Run the configuration Wizard

Hope you know your languages. The language packs installer is localized for the language you are installing. Any issues with the installation, you may need to remove the pack or re-install it. If you’ve done this before you may be able to identify the appropriate action / step from memory without having to read it off of the installer application.
